just wondering, have any of you hung a woods mower under one of those allis chalmers G's ? how do they work, and how hard is it to find parts for them if one was to make a "using tractor" out of one?

I don"t have a "G" myself, however there were a lot of them with belly mowers in use. They made a good mowing tractor as you had a very good view of the work being done. Woods is still in business and there should be mowers available on the used market. You can check classified ads on the site here and also Craig"s list. Both of these have wanted columns.

I do not own, or know anyone who owns an Allis G. I do know that the original engine is very pricey to gets parts for. I have heard there is a company putting small diesels in the original Gs to make them more user friendly IE truck farmers, etc. Greg

Have had a "G" for twenty-some odd years, but just use it for gardening. A fellow over in MO had it for sale (have forgotten his name or the town). He was a small-time dealer in old equipment. Went to look at it one Saturday and SWMBO went with me; he had numerous 8Ns, 20 and 30 Fergies, etc. The "G" wouldn't start, but the guy said it was all right and I bought it. Wife 'bout had a conniption. I told her that before we got home, someone would want to buy it. Stopped for supper in Poplar Bluff; 'bout half-way through the meal, a fellow came in and looked around; came over to the table and asked if that was my "G" on the trailer outside and if it was for sale...........
