I plan on taking a pop-up camper on pickup to canada (western). Question is I wish to take a 4500 watt generator with hondas spark arrester in a home built (nice one) trailer. I have title and plates. Has legal lights 3000# no brakes. will have generator 2 chairs small amount of tools. No guns. In your opinions will this be ok as generator for airconditioner use . I know the generator is big enough I am refering to legality and is trailer legal as no doubt there will be sovinior tractor parts to bring home. Thanks Bill Wilson

Depends on the size of the AC unit but it should be ok.
Unless you hit our six weeks of summer when the snow has melted. The AC won't be required.
The climate does vary across the country. Traveling just 150 miles in Ontario can vary the average temp 5, even 10 degrees.

You are thinking the small trailer no brakes but legale here and spark arrester muffler is OK in Canada??? Thanks Bill W

It would depend on the province if registered there. If legal in your state, it should be ok passing through here.
At 3000+lbs of trailer however. A set of brakes would be a good idea. A set of elecrics are not expensive or difficult to fit on there.

You'll have no problem with that type of trailer in Manitoba, Saskatchewan, and Alberta. British Columbia has some strict rules for trailers and may require brakes and certification. AC will not be rquired for nights on the the above Provinces.
Where exactly are you travelling? Let us know. Ellis

I bring trailer loads of stuff through Canada a couple of times a year. From New York, through Canada, to Michigan. They require you to have ready in duplicate, printed sheets of paper itemizing every item on that trailer, including where you got the stuff, serial #s if available, etc.

The reality is, they rarely ask for it, but if they do, and you don't have it - things can get very complicated.

You should be fine. The a/c isn't a terrible idea but not needed at night. We spent two weeks in BC a few years ago and the days were over 100 F in the afternoon. Nice and dry though, not like back east.
