After fighting the fire for over 24 hrs the rig collapsed and sunk into the gulf today.
There was some hope this morning when the Coast Guard found an enclosed life boat but none of the 11 still missing was found onboard.
Rescue crews have covered a 1,940-square-mile search area by air 12 times and by boat five times.
The search continues, despite reports by survivors that many of the missing crew were working in the immediate area of the explosion.
It is just a matter of time now before they are listed as presumed dead and the search is called off.

If you have a moment say a small prayer for the families of these 11 guys.

With over a hundred people on the rig, the chances of all surviving such an explosion was slim, but the Coast Guard had to make the search effort. You really feel for those who have loved ones missing and hoping that they are found alive. Our hearts and prayers go out to them

Definitely thinking about them....

My brother works for Trans-Ocean. Right now (for the past several months) he's in Korea at Hyundai's shipyard responsible for comissioning a new rig's mechanical systems... but he's spent time offshore there as well as in the Beaufort with Trans...
Also spent time offshore here with Ocena Rig / En-Cana on the Erik Raude as well as off Cuba on the Erik...
Ya try not to think about it too much...
