seriously some stuck them between the frame rails and engine block. Don't know if there was a standard place. Around here the only place I did see one was in a shed.

We use'd to keep our's stuck in the seat bracket, on the platform.

I think D Slater is right. I think that by 1952 very few, if any, farmers were starting their Super Ms with the hand crank. Why would you when there was electric start!
