No wonder wifey is getting tired of mowing - spect her to mow all the ditches with a 20" Lawn Boy?

Tear out the fences and plant to the road. Mow the right of way. Minimize any habitat. And wonder where the wildlife, flora and fauna went? Maximize the dollars and sterilize the country. Shame, Shame.

When you start paying me for wildlife, flora, and fauna then YOU can criticize the way we manage OUR farms. I have plenty of wild life on my farm and it costs me money every year. Maybe we all can get rich when you tree huggers start paying some on the bills your policies cost.

Nice looking stand of corn.

How much will you make?

Looks like the old JD #5 mower is working really good on your right of way and ditches.

Hope you are saying that in jest - not very funny tho. Maybe you'd like to chip a few bucks into the kittie to support the feed stolen by the wildlife.....

Looks good to me, wish I had the time to get it all cleaqned up that nice. The wildlife seems to take care of itself just fine, still at my expense.

before you judge gordo, between both my farms, i have a little over 20 acres out of production and set aside for wildlife habitat. both farms have creeks on them. i have 8 acres of timber, oak, black walnut, chestnut, hawthorne, osage orange, honey locust, blackberry, rasberry, apple, cherry, peach, plum, blueberry and grapes. hunting is NOT permitted on either farm. i have a herd of about 14 deer, largest is a 13 pt buck. also turkey, rabbit, squirrel, pheasant, 3 pair of great horned owl, red tail hawk, beaver, muskrat, mink, weasel, badger, raccoon, opossum, skunk, wood duck, great blue heron, fox, coyote, humming bird, and a host of other smaller critters. i keep road ditches and grass ways finish mowed for weed control. now, how much ground did you say you have set aside for wild life????

Glennster: Looks NICE keeping it all mowed back. Wish everybody around my area here in MI mowed between the road and field. I mow it just like you do, since county wont keep the brush back along the road. Everything grows up to scrub boxelder junk and brush between field and road and encroaches into both. Soon the trees are in hanging into the road and field. Keep the brush back and road and field is nice!!!

47 acres set aside for wildlife. 5 food plots.
300 nut and fruit bearing trees for wildlife.
I Have about 60 deer in my woods. Turley, canada geese, wood ducks, pheasant, fox. coon. coyote, mink, badger, pheasants, cottontail rabbits. And I do allow a lot of hunting but no archery as I found too many buck carcasses with arrows in them.

This tree hugger shoots an average 5 deer a year. 40-50 ducks, many geese, hundreds of prairie dogs, perhaps 4000 pheasants in my life.
Have hunted on four continents and many countries.
My little farm is 80% managed for wildlife. I've mentored a dozen kids out here on their first deer hunt.
I'm a member of the NRA ATA NSSA. I was #2 All-Navy trap champion and went to two Olympic trials.
Now at 70 years old I only travel to Argentina to shoot birds, and CAnada and FLorida to fish.
The large corporate farms are slowly taking over up here and they farm like the photots. And there is NO wildlife left there. The remaining family farms who are stewards of the land and wildlife still have a lot.

Does the 160 acres that has been in the family for 129 years that is in CRP, with a pond I put in, Trees, and 10 acres of food plots every year count?

GordoSD, So I guess that I am a "big corporate farm" my land has to make a profit and provide a living. I have enough free loaders dragging the profits down without supporting a bunch more wide life. The valleys, streams and filter strips around here are over run with deer and turkeys. The raccoons population is so bad that I can"t feed my feeder cattle in the evenings anymore. I wish you would come and get a bunch of deer, coons and turkeys. I am tired of feeding the freeloaders. I let a few people hunt my land but it is getting fewer each years. Too many shoot first and look types anymore.
