Since its been so dry here alot of corn has turned and I saw some dutchmen (amish) getting ready to fill silo. Normally most don't start that here in Northern IN for another month or so.

Yep we're gonna be a week or 2 ahead of normal here also. About a month ahead of last year.

We have been wet and hot so the corn just kept growing.

we are looking way early here too.may start combining corn mid september. looks like we will have corn out before soybeans.

I don't see corn for grain being much earlier than usual here in western NY but silage corn may be coming out starting around Labor Day which would be two to three weeks earlier for a number of farmers. I don't see early soybeans in most spots around here also.

If my silage corn was at the stage that my picking corn is,I'd be chopping now. There's corn out east of town that looks like it's too ripe to even chop. Leaves are dry, ears are hanging down, husks are open.

We had the water and the heat here too but has been a bit too dry to finish some corn. Alot of guys got corn in a bit early too and were lucky before the monsoon season. I can't remember anyone getting the choppers out this early.

I saw a farmer shelling (combine) corning in Wichita KS last week, not sure how early that is for them, but the corn hasn"t even started turning here in north west MO. We did have a wet spring and the corn was put in a little late,if they got it in at all.On a normal year wouldn"t look for anyone to start for about another month.

I'm down in the Bloomington, IN area. Probably half of the beans are starting to turn and a lot of the corn is drying down pretty quickly. I heard there was someone shelling up in Hendricks and/or Putnam counties. I wouldn't be surprised if this years crops are mostly done by Oct. 1. Jim.

Just got back from the show at Oakley Michigan. They're chopping to beat the band over that way. Heard they are around St Johns too.

Corn harvest is getting started and almost full swing in North Arkansas, rice harvest started about a week ago. That's a little early.

I was just thinking the same thing for us in SW Ohio we've had plenty of rain but it has been extremely hot for the last several days, don't get me wrong we still have a lot of green corn but I have noticed a lot of fields with dropping ears even in bottom land so I'm guessing it is a hybrid thing. I have not seen any beans turning yet so far. What little silo filling happens here has already happened.

Neighbor who feeds out a lot of steers filled his pit last week, I expect within two weeks we will be in full swing around here, I was out today looking at the fields and decided that I better get the combine out in the next couple days. We did get 1.5 inches of rain tonight, our first measureable rain in nearly a month that will go along way towards filling out some bean pods.

Around here a lot of farmers planted 100 day corn the 13th-15th of April. They where afraid of having the same maturity problems as last year. They will have dry corn this year but will pay for it in lost yield.
The corn around here is about ready to chop. Some will be starting the first of the week.
