Just wondering if any of you boil green peanuts and eat them? Or is that one of those things that we southerners are not suppose to tell you about.

Too good for people, 'round heah! ;v) It's definatly one of my favorites. I am blessed to have a Southern side (Dad's) to my family & that's how I know of such great delicasies. I feel I would be truely lost without ever having known real jambalya & hushpuppys, followed by a Moon Pie & RC. Ah shorts! There I go a-blabberin'. Tisk, Tisk!

Yes sir I really like boil peanuts, and don't forget the chicken bog, that is really a South Carolina thing. You got to get below Hartsville to get good peanuts and chicken bog

Talk about something good to eat is NC style BBQ, red pepper vinegar sauce with sweet cole slaw on top. Now that's Good.

Next somebody is going to rave about fried green tomatoes, chitins, greens, various kinds of grain or corn porridge with gravy on top.
Speaking of gravy. Why do some folk have not one but two different kinds of gravy with each meal?
Then there are strange potatoes that are not potatoes. Those yam and sweet potato things?

I dont like fried green maters or sweet taters, but I do like fried chitlins and collard greens!!! I assume by corn porridge you mean grits? I like those too, with some butter and salt, and crunched up bacon!

All good fixins. Never been where peanuts grow but when I went to "Nawlens Weesianner" to help clean up after Katrina I was exposed to boiled crawdad. Now thats what I call MMMMMMMMM MMMMMMM Gooooooood..
If I can talk the missus into it We'll go there next vacation and I can pig out again.
Better than shrimp in my book.

Here in SE NC we eat a whole lot of boiled peanuts. Peanuts are a major crop in this area and they are plentiful. Peanuts that have been dried and boiled in the off season are ok, but if you dig them at just the right time they are one of the best foods you can get. Just don't do like folks in the mountains and put onions in them. Chicken bog is also a staple that is hard to beat.

I lived in the Tarheel State for eight years and never acquired a taste for boiled peanuts. There are plenty of southern foods that I like, but boiled peanuts ain't one of 'em. Equally vile are pre-sweetened ice tea and sandwiches made from white bread, mayonnaise and bananas.

I really like tea that has been steeped and then sweetened, but a lot of places sell some awful stuff that is from a concentrate. I don't even think it has tea in it.
