I went to see my best friend and I took some pictures of his camper that he designed . He did all the work on it himself with his son at his side. They just got back from a camping trip in forked river nj where they went camping , fishing and crabbing .

That is a pretty nice setup.I guess he doesn't like camping with limits.

the system is on a gfi breaker where it starts out I guess that would pass code, but no inspectors came to look at it I dont think he invited any lol

Got to love the originality! Very Cool! I'd love to be at the camp ground when he pulls in and parks next to a $100,000 Motor Home, I'm sure the faces of the owners would be worth a few pictures! LOL.
Great Job and here's to many years of Happy Camping!

reminds me of the days my grandpa & dad & their buddies converted a 1940's school bus into a camper with all the amenities. Even had a commode that could flush while traveling... right onto the road! The code was a little different back then.

Who cares what it looks like, as long as the chicks dig it!

Besides the no one can tell by the tracks if they were coming or going.

I slept in a 5 ton for many months in the cab, and I know the width of the cab was about 1" shorter than me with my legs straight.

I can't believe that .
Most people don't care what you camp in at any camp grounds.

I had on old International Metro potato chip truck I built into a camper.back in the early 70's

I pulled into a KOA near Erie Pa Went into Office and they gave me a map and a lot Number.

When I found it I was in between a real nice very new at the time Winnebago and a sleek looking I didn't know what til the guy told me he was retired airline pilot and he built his from ground up from an old airplane. looked as good as the factory one.

I kind of felt embarrassed about mine, I even said I'd move if they felt I should.
They ask me why would I want to move? I said I made their rigs look bad. they said mine was for the same purpose theirs were and campers are just campers. its the people that like to camp they were interested in.

So if ya just got a tent , or a big Diesel pusher
The kind of people ya meet is the important part.

I used to camp in a 2 1/2 like that, but don't remember it being quite that nice. Seems like mine had a welder & tool box inside. And everything was OD green, including my clothes. My bed was a mummy sleeping bag & my family was my assistant welder. Oh yea, mine always had my unit numbers on the front & rear bumpers. Nice looking rig. Keith

There's a website I found for a place that rehabs duece and a halves and 5 tons. Actually, I think I found it or got linked to it from Ebay when looking up a 5 ton. I saw a fella selling an all-wheel drive early 60's LFC Dodge 900 diesel grain truck about a year ago, and it went quick. That was a rare find, but I didn't have the $$$ to spare.

Slick, very slick. Tell your friend to enjoy, and that he did very well.

Oh, one suggestion for your friend if I may. Tell him to replace those split rims if he can afford it. They used to make us take a wire brush to them when changing tires when I was in the service, and then paint them up. I blew one in a cage one time. Scared the crap out of me. If there hadn't been a cage there, I'd be dead or at least armless today.
