JD2030 won't start

I have a JD2030 tractor and cannot get it to start. Finished baling last night without any issues with the tractor. Went to move a wagon this morning and would not turn over. I get a click from the solenoid. Put my ammeter on the batteries and they are showing full charge. Dash indicator lights come on. Headlights and flashers work too. Any suggestions? Dead starter? Is JD dealer only option for a replacement?

No, No, No. Just take and clean the cable on the starter.

Ok, tried cleaning the cable on the starter, still no change. Any other ideas?

Clean all the cables and connections not just one.

Take your battery terminals off and clean them along with the battery posts

You might have a dead spot on the starter. Grab the fan and with other hand pull the fan belt tight and then turn the engine a little bit. Then take a hammer and rap on the starter. If it starts then, that means you have to replace the starter.

Neutral start switch,likely the problem.

I'll bet it's the ground cable not making good connection on the rusty battery box where battery box bolts to clutch housing. I'd route ground cable from negative battery post to starter mounting bolt.

Jump it off battery to starter post and see if starter runs, not solenoid... Starter should run, your solenoid could be bad......

I should have been more specific. I did clean all of the contact points, on both batteries, at the ground connection and on the starter solenoid. Results are still the same, but it was worth a try.

Good thought. I went and checked that this afternoon, taking the wires off the switch and jumping them. Didn't change the results unfortunately.

Even if the ground cable is clean at battery box it still can loose connection between battery box and clutch housing which still means NO CONTINUITY for ample amperage to start. You do have enough amperage at starter ether from a weak battery,bad connection or faulty starter.
