I was looking at Craigslist last Thursday evening and I saw an ad for a Case VAC parts tractor for $125 about 5 miles from me. I knew I wanted to buy it and I wrote an email giving my phone number and saying I would come that evening or first thing in the morning with cash in hand but I had to go out of town for the weekend and could I leave it there till this week. I didn't hear anything back before I left, but when I got home again and checked my email they had held it for me even though I hadn't asked them to. I thought that was very nice of them to do, and much more than I would expect of a Craigslist deal. I don't have a picture yet since I forgot to empty my camera before I went to pay them, but I am hoping to get the tractor home soon and I will post one then. There still are some really good people out there.

They were probably thrilled to get someone who didn't try to pay with a $500 cashiers check with instructions to Western Union the extra cash the his shipper.

I use reverse ph # look up quite a bit. If your number is listed, he may have known you were neighbors. or f you gave a name would show your address.

I said in the email that I was in Orwell, which was just to say that if they called I could be there in ten minutes. I think that my being nearby might have a lot to do with it, like you say.
