On my way home from picking up my brother, we just turned onto the road that goes to our house and all of a sudden I see these dark looking things in the road at the last minute and they turn out to be hay bales!! I saw the guy picking them up earlier in the evening so I knew who they belonged to. As we were trying to move the 20 or so bales off the road the owner came back so we helped him load them on his trailer and off he went. I hope he makes it home before any more fall off!!!!

Back in the mid-sixties I was coming home from basketball practice in my 59 Chevy, doing about 70 on a two lane blacktop when I met a farmer coming from the other way pulling a flare box wagon with a 620 Deere. There was a hay bale sitting on the front left corner of his wagon and just as we met the bale fell off in front of me, just ahead of the front bumper. I hit the brakes but it was too late and the Chevy went right over the top of the bale, lifting the car up a little as the bale rolled under the car. I kept going but I watched in the mirror as the farmer picked up the UNBROKEN bale and threw it back in the wagon. The thing that impressed me the most about the incident is the fact the bale never broke! Jim

He's luckier than me I was the last one out of the field after loading behind the baler all day doing around 900 to 1000 bales dad had me bring the last partial load home with the H Farmall and while I was enjoying the nice cool breeze I didn't notice the hitch pin coming out while going down hill end result all 65 bales wound up in the dry creek bottom. After I was loading the last bale my brothers were looking over the bridge abutement laughing at me! Grrr!!
