Hey folks,
Any experience with these tractors? Supposed to have been built in the US from 63-65 with a D-188 diesel motor and 50HP.
One just came up possibly for sale here but they are rare for this area and parts may be hard to get. What about availability in the States?

Thanks, Dave

It's a "light" 50HP. If you can keep the engine wound up it'll have plenty of power. It just won't lug.

504 is an american tractor so parts availability for them there is about as good as parts availablility is here for one of your German IH's :)

I have one- good old tractor. Mine has a loader, and tractor has enough hydraulics to run it fine. Good draft control on the 3 point. Mine has been very reliable. Starts relatively easy with glow plugs. Utility size tractor- not as nimble as the little Fords, but good power steering makes it pretty easy to herd around. I'd recommend it.

My father bought a gas one when they came out and two years latter traded it for the diesel. It is still on the farm today and he ended up with several big ih tractors but wold never trade the little 504 in. I think it has over 3000 hrs and no major problems.

dave., if you keep looking at other tractors your tractor is going to get mad at you !! you already promised it you would keep it, yougot a smaller mower for it., now you are teasing your tractor by looking at another? lol

I had one, it is a good chore tractor but a little light for hard pulling. Hold out for a 3cyl 4000 ford, your baler won't push it over the hill. That was you I think!

You say that as a joke, but I had a he!! of a time starting that thing this morning....... I must have stopped it just as it ran out of fuel and didn't notice.

It's pretty forgiving though.
