Ever wonder why some manufacturers utilize a starter button even when the key switch has a start position? Doesn't seem to matter,little old gas, or bigger newer diesel. AC liked to do that. My IH truck is also that way even though there is a little firewall mounted relay to activate the main starter relay.

Well depending on the type of starter button as in one that then in turn used a solinod or the old type with no sloiniod. Any how the one with out the soliniod cost a few $$ less then one with

Bob,it isn't silly,but AC and some others used that start position as a method for the Manifold heater or other start aids.
