Ford 1710 Diesel offset with planter value

I would like to buy this tractor for use in my garden/field. I don"t know the model; just saw it beside the road.

Could someone give me an idea of what it is worth?

It is original; faded; front tires weak; back tires have tread but are original ones.

Thanks for any help or advice you can give.

John

John little tractor made 1983 to 1986. Just checked Iron Solutions Summer 2010 guide and this is what they said ...average whosale around $1200.00 I am thinking that was a tractor made in Japan by some one like surbua or something like that. They were not bad tractors. The ofset makes it worth having. Might be something you would need to check out.

Nice tractor, I assume front wheel assist/ 4wd? If so, check out the front drive train; parts are hard to come by/ very $$$$ as no longer supported.

John, Those 1710 offset tractor bring good money if in reasonable shape. I don"t know what JM was looking at for $1200 but I found three for sale. The average price was around $9800. They are popular around produce areas plus some tobacco areas. I have not seen a planter for them but maybe someone made one.
They where only made two years: 1985 and 1986. They where made by Shibaura(Japan) for Ford. Parts are not hard to get as Ford still services them. My BIL has two that he uses. He likes them better than his IH 140 because of the 1710s being diesel. He had a JD 900HC too but sold it for big money and bought the second Ford.

Guess JD is in a good part of the country or something. I went back and looked at past sales reported to Iron Solutions for the past 36 months. The RETAIL average was $1634.00 for six units reported by dealers. The average reported whosale (usually auctions) was as I said earlier
just over $1,200.00 I know offset tractors sell well but I am thinking you don,t want to put 5 or 6 thousand in a 30 year old tractor.

Thank you for your responses.

I just reached the owner; said he bought new in 86 and wants $7500. for it.

Too much for me.

John

Where I am, I'd buy a dozen for under $2000 each! Couldn't touch something like that _with_ an implement for under $5000. Heck a 2 row working planter here would cost close to 1/2 your 1200 bucks - never mind the tractor.

The $7500 sounds spot on if in good shape. 'Here.'

Theres one for sale in my town in N.E. Texas in really nice condition low hours with equipment for $10,000, been for sale for 5 months or so, but he will eventually get near that fo it. I graduated in '86 and sure wanted one for graduation, but never got one. Johnny

I read your post about the ford 1710 offset tractor for sale. These are very nice tractors, I own 3 of them and i'm just finishing up restoring one of them. I paid $14,000 for one of mine so the $7,000+ that they want for the one you saw is much cheaper, but there's alot that plays into the price. Where is the one for sale that you looked at? There's a specific one i'm looking for, however, i don't think it's likely i'll be able to find it... please email me back at [email protected]
