OT 2009 chevy colbolt brakes

my stepson has a 2009 chevy colbolt ss i attempted to put rear brake pads on it tonite without much success.i could not get the caliper plunger to reset back inside the caliper.i had a c clamp on it so tight something was gonna give so i put the old brakes back on it and told him to take it to a brake shop anyone else run into this before .

If it's 4 wheel disc, you can't just push the pistons back into their bores, the rears have a parking brake mechanism in them and it can be damaged by trying to squeeze it together.
 
There is a tool used to rotate the caliper piston as it's retracted, due to the parking brake feature on the caliper.

GM's have had this feature on rear disc brakes for at least 15 years...maybe 20.
 
As new as it is should be pretty easy to just screw the piston back in as the others say. I have used a wide chisel in the slot as my "special tool" - give it another look.
 
I picked up the tool at my local parets store, its one of those that can be used on several different types of rear calipers. I saw the ones specific to each model. Having said that, my brothers Impala doesnt have that setup, so not all newer GMs have that.
