Freezing in my 2002 Dodge Pickup

My 2002 Dodge pickup is freezing me out. The temperature gauge says the engine temp. is normal. The blower works well. The radiator reservior is full. It blows cold air out of the defrost and the heater down by your feet. Some of the forums on the internet say it could be a "blend door" or a plugged heater core. What ideas can you give me??? Thank you. andy

When the temp is right, are both heater hoses warm/hot? If not, is there a valve in one of them with a cable (can't imagine on that new of truck)?
If no valve and the input hose is hot and return cold, could be a plugged core. Most likely though, work the temp control knob (hopefully it's a cable) and find where the far end is. Could have slipped off if you're lucky. If it's working a lever but nothing is happening, you need to figure out how to move the flap (door) inside. How's the truck smell? Couldn't be a mouse nest in the duct has the blender door stuck???

Im not sure how hard it would be, But you can flush the heater core with a garden hose in both directions... usually works to unplug crud. Not sure what to tell ya on the blend door

Switch heat hoses and see if that help. If it does you have as clogged system and by doing that ya it works but sooner or later that clog will come back

what engine does it have, had a new 02 with a v10, loved the truck, heater sucked from day one, they never did get it, but i figured it out, I put a restrictor in the heater hose(a washer) to slow the coolant down on the return side and look out it would run you out of there, good luck.

go to a Dodge fourm and you will find that the blender door will bend [Plastic] from the heat and will get stuck very commen my 2002 did the same thing there is a fix just google dodge heater door

If both heater hoses are hot like the upper radiator hose then it's a phlenum chamber issue like a stuck blend door. Gerard

I just fixed one of my service trucks yesterday, 96 F350 w/ powerstroke.....ink pen had fell down defrost vent into the blend door area, door couldnt open....cut small hole and removed pen. Now I only have to cover the 1.5"X2" hole I cut....I have heat again!!!!

More than likely plug heater core. Been their and done that. Won't flush! Have tried vinegar and CLR. A new heater core is what it will take. It is a bear to put in just for your information. Have to roll the whole dash down.

I just did that with an older Dodge,I drained the anti freeze down and pulled both hoses from the by-pass and block, used a plastic hose connector and blew the core out both ways, put the hoses back on and heat is neat!
