MN Metro Weather?

Anybody have some insight into the weather in the Twin City metro area? Supposed to go to a wedding in Elk River and a reception in Mounds View. North Central MN isn't too bad, but wondering how it will be when we get down that way. Wedding is at 4:00, so we'd be leaving about 1:30

Thanks

Go to mndot511 for current road conditions. I"m stuck in St. Paul right now, about 8" of snow, lots of blowing. I really want to go home but we"ve got a blizzard at home in western MN as well. Not so afraid of the roads as the idiots down here that drive them.Best of luck.

Have 2 reports from people going to a wedding there, 1 says not too bad from someone there@ 10:30, one from someone in MPLS. said I should stay home, hey had 10 on the ground and starting to blow, couldn't see across the street, I chose to stay home.

I would strongly suggest staying someplace and wait it out. I live in Southwestern Minn and visibility is zero. Why risk running into somebody or into a ditch.

We've got maybee a new inch blowing around, about half mile vis and 10 degrees. Just talked to my sister in Princeton with similar report. sounds like its worse to the south, though ER is only about 20 miles S of Princeton. Who's getting married? I grew up in Elk River.

A couple I work with. Gal is from that area originally, Rene Cassidy. Her husband to be is my coworker.

Are you near New York Mills or Ottertail? I use to get tractor parts for the StandardTwin and Viking garden tractors back in the 1960's & the 1970's. They told me they burnt 7 cords of wood in the Winter. Hal

My parents and I both have outdoor wood boilers for heat, and between us we burn about 22 cords, plus I sell another 10-15 cords a year to neighbors. Usually handle about 35 cords a winter.

Well, hated to miss the wedding of friends, but I guess the sensible thing is to be safe and stay home. Feel bad, as I'm sure attendance is going to be slim. All of my friends/coworkers that were going are also staying home too.

Wilmont (SWMN) We are having 49mph winds gusting to 59mph. Have about 6" snow blowing around with 4 more predicted. 100ft visability at best. Good day to stay home.

I used to think it was a bad winter if I burned anything over 2-3 cords. And I heated with 100% wood in a Longwood central furnace in the basement.

I think you definitely made the right choice. They extended the Blizzard Warning until noon tomorrow. We've only got about 6" of fresh snow down here in the SE tip, but they're saying 5-9" more and very high winds. It's already drifting bad on the ridges and flat areas.

I went up on the ridge here to skid firewood for a few hours this afternoon. Stayed up there a bit too long because I barely made it back out busting through the drifts with the pickup. Would have been a cold walk back since I my clothes were already soaked through at that point.

Oops...If I had read down I would have saw who it was. Attend same church. You would have driven right by my place....and saw about 15 Farmalls....LOL
