Very OT:Times square crowd question

I know this is weird but when I see events like New Year's I have to wonder...where do they all p@@? I've never been to a big city but I know shops don't want folks in using their facilities, so where are they all going?

Having been in the military and been in many places where there were no "public" facilties I can only imagine. In other words any alley, behind any available cover, pretty much anywhere that is easily accessible and provides enough coverage for whomever to be comfortable going, they are going to 'go'...Because when Mother Nature calls, she don't hang up...........

Not a weird question at all. I imagine there's several people there who make their living planning for this sort of thing. My bigger question last night as I watched the ball drop was how do they insure the safety of all those people? I wouldn't care to have that job.
