Hey folks,
Nasty outside and I'm talking myself in to getting busy shovelling poop. My favorite duty station in the military was Ft Leonard Wood, Mo. Worked with a bunch of civilians that that were really good folks. A few stick out that lived lived in Crocker, Competition, Waynesville, Dixon, Richland, and Newburg direction. Been 20 years and wonder if they are still around. Don't want to post their names on here, but if someone lives close to the areas, I could email you with names. Not trying to find anyone, just see if they are OK and say Hi.

Dave you are a little older than I pictured you.

How long have you been in the military?

Can you tell us what your job is in Germany?

Your post brings back some memories for me, but they go back 50 years. The Frisco rail line stopped at Newburgh and that's where we got on the bus to report for basic.

Company B, 3rd Batallion, 2nd Training Regiment Basic, then Q-4-4 for Supply school, then supply clerk in O-4-4.

Spent a little time in a couple of bars on the strip in Waynesville, too.

I was at Fort Lost in the Woods in the mid 60s and was thru there last year and didn't see anything I remembered, completely built up around there.

I'm providing a link to my online photo album with the photos taken at FLW.

For most or all of you I doubt you recognize anything since most are associated with the 208th MP Company and hopefully you never had to deal with them other than a wave through at the Main Gate.

Mid-60s guys----remember when a 6X6 took out the Main Gate shack? The driver had gotten mad because he had gotten a ticket so demolished the building and injured an MP which was pinned to the truck grill as it proceeded through the building.

A small temporary building was used until a new facility could be constructed. However while still under construction the new building was damaged when a driver fell asleep and drove into it.

I took time lapse photos of the 6X6 incident and CID and JAG used them during the prosecution of the case. Though they promised to return them I never did get them back. Still have some poorer ones however. Slides so need scanned before adding them to the album.

BTW Dave, you didn't mention Licking which was out the South Gate. A couple of years ago I got in touch with lady that grew up there. Her folks owned a motel/cafe/bar in St. Roberts and my buddies and I used to hang out there and drink coffee. Toni now lives in Florida. Nice to rekindle old memories. Though Toni never married we are far too different to ever connect these days tho we had crushes on each other back then.
