These were supposed to be original equipment for some of the old trucks and tractors (Lanz?) here.

11:00 AM here. Saw these at a tractor show. The folks with the old Lanz & others of the style had them for starting aids.

That is what I know as a "Blow Torch" was powered by unleaded gasoline. They were used for many things from melting lead to what that one is used for. I have two that belonged to Dad somewhere. The burnze-o-matic torch took the place of them. and much safer.
 
That is what we used to call a melting pot,used to melt lead to seal joints with after punching some okam cord around the cast iron sewer pipe joint. The solid lead was put in the pot and melted by the torch on the bottom of the tool,then when the pipe joint was ready the liquid lead was poured around the joint and was worked with a wooden paddle till it was solid again.Took a skilled craftsman to do a good leading job.
