OT Finally after 2 years

Ever since the first of the year I have been wanting to get the old car out of the garage. It's been parked for over 2 years and since we normally have pretty decent weather in January I planned to drag it out and get it running again. But noooooo........the wet and cold weather had to make it's way all the way down here to the Mexico border several times only to hamper my attempt. A few weeks ago I got it drug out only to find one brake locked up and of course a very dead battery. I put the charger on the battery and left it for the last 2 weeks waiting out the lousy weather. (Nice to have a good charger that shuts itself off when it's fully charged) Finally today since it was close to 80 I got the brakes released and got the old gal running again. I pulled it out in the yard and hosed off the foot of dust and hopefully I can get it washed and waxed later this week. Can't wait to take the old gal out for a spin again!

64 model, and I call her PM. Not for after lunch, not for personal message.....not for anything else you could probably think of. PM is for Pre Mustang, since the Mustang was introduced as a 64 1/2 model and was based on the Falcon. Tons of Mustang parts interchange, makes it pretty cheap to keep on the road.
Took these pictures of her and her black sister (65 model) about 6 years ago. The 65 was our oldest sons first car and when he upgraded to some newer transportation he gave it back. Yes, we still have it too.

I bought a used 1960 Falcon in 1961. It was a good little car. It had the 80 hp engine, and a time or two, I got over 30 mpg on a tank. Of course, it had a manual transmission, no a/c or power steering, but I liked it. I sold it in '64 when I got a company car.,

Ah yes, 1960...the first year of the Falcon. Yours would have had the big 144 ci engine, a real powerhouse! You were lucky it had the standard, the old 2 speed automatic was a real power robber and when you didn't have much power in the first place.....well you get the idea.
You should appreciate these pictures of my 63 model, the body style was virtually the same from 1960 to 1963 with a few minor changes. No doubt these will bring back a few memories!
Oh, and to keep this On Topic....you will notice tractor tire tracks on the concrete!

Those are some nice looking Fords you got showing. Never owned one of them. But several friends did and they all loved them. Only complaint I ever heard of them was in the electrial wire area. Something to do with the way they were wired is all I remember. But all got great gas they would tell me.

I had one EXACTLY like yours. Had a real small V8.I think it was a 260ci.Don't remember exactly. While working in Alaska my wifes brother wrecked his car so my wife gave it to him. Didn't think I would mind since he really needed it. She is my X now. I loved that car.

Had one just like it only Gold color. 289 v8, four barrel carb, three on the tree. Could run over stock 327 chevies all day long, if I could keep the tail on the ground.

We had a '64 with the 144 CID and the three on a tree. When the weather was cold (10ºF) the transmission was extremely hard to shift due to the cold gelled oil. Paid $500 for it from a dealer and it had a bad engine. Rebuilt the engine and the wife drove it to work at Ford Division General Office for several years.

Gotta love them. Dad and Grandad had several 62's a 64,a 67, even a 70. I worked on all of them growing up. Dad bought a 63 station wagon 144 2 speed automatic that knocked. I change it over to 200 with 3 speed. Really was a good car then he could not get a title for it. Ended up driving it on farm and every once and a while sneek out on to paved road. Finally parked it when Dad brought home a 66 Fairlane shell.I took all of the drive train out of Grandad's wrecked 67 falcon and drove it till I finished High school.I always felt like there was nothing that could go wrong with those cars that I couldn't fix enough to get home.

What engine and tranny's do you have in the Falcons?
I have a couple of 1964 Comets. The one in the picture has a 289 automatic and a similar Black one has a 260 V8 3-speed that in the old days got second gear rubber a million times.)
Both of my cars need a lot of work though.
The red car that is partially shown is my BIL's perfect shape 1964 Comet Cyclone.

The 63 has the original 170 six banger and the original 2 speed Fordomatic (slipomatic).
The white 64 has a newer (early 70's) 200 six cylinder and C4 automatic (removed from same car) with the shifter moved to the floor.
The black 65 has a 200 six cylinder and the green dot automatic.

My first new car was a "62 Falcon 2 Dr with a 170 and 3 speed stick.
In later years, I had a "65 Sprint 289 4 Speed; sold it in 1994.
Then a "65 Convertible; originally a six but converted to 302 w/C-4 auto. Sold that in 2003.
I parted out 11 or 12 "64/"65 Falcons and a "65 Caliente. Used the 8" rear and front susp. from the Comet to conveert the "65 Falcon conv. to V-8.
The only car I miss more than the Sprint was the "51 Ford Convertible I had back in 1960.
