Does anyone know where I can get a starter for a
1945 Buda 4cyl. engine used on a Sullivan air compressor?

Thank you
Glenn

What type of mount and ring gear pitch?
Starters very generic. Just pick the voltage, rotation direction and power needed. Then bolt on the pinion gear and nose required.

I"ve got an old "Autolite" book that lists
models of starters, generators, distriburtors for
Buda engines...But need the specific Buda engine
model number...please post it here

I now have a new deliema, my mechanic now tells me that altho the engine IS a gasoline the starter and bell housing is for a diesel as it has three bolt holes for the starter....now what?

One thing about buying new starters is to make sure that they aren't made in China. The ones made there are complete pieces of junk. Even if it costs more to have the original rebuilt, it will still cost you less since the Chinese made version will crap out on you soon.

Can you find the I.D. tag on the starter? Maybe find out what company made it, a model number, etc.

"greygoat" mentioned Auto Lite, and I think he is probably correct, so if you can find the I.D. plate on the engine, we might be able to figure out which starter it uses.
