Rivet headed bolts

I once saw some bolts for replacing heavy steel rivets. Can't remember what they're called. They're like a carriage bolt without the square collar. Probably a snug fit in the hole so they won't turn. Anybody know what they're called or where to get them?

Not sure what they call the item for which you're looking. Over the weekend I helped a guy find some bolts for attaching the stepside fenders to the bedside on a '51 International; they're like a carriage bolt, with the square shank under the head, but with a larger diameter head. Turns out THOSE are called "step bolts."

I've used such bolts on sickle bar sections, to replace rivets. Think i gottem @ CIH. They had serrations along the shank to keep them from turning.

Do a search for 'rib neck carraige bolts'. They look just like carraige bolts only with ridges instead of the square collar.

Good luck.

Maybe this isn't what you're looking for, but---- Have you looked at "elevator" bolts? They have a broad, flat head, but no serrations to hold the bolt from turning. Try Fastenal.

Don't know where you are located but if anywhere close to Southern Indiana try Evansville Nut and Bolt. I went in there to buy some bolts to attach a tractor rim to a hub and their knowledge blew me away. They asked if I wanted bridge bolts. I did not even know there was such thing as a bridge bolt.

How about hex socket button head screws? I used them in place of rivets when rebuilding my manure spreader drag chain.

There"s probably more than one name for what you"re looking for depending on what part of the country you"re in. I"ve heard them referred to as Body Bound Bolts.
