Just guessing, but it is probably a tag installed by a previous owner to identify THAT particular item of assets. I've never seen anything like it that IH would have provided.

I have an old vise that came from the steel mills around Pittsburg. It has a similar brass tag on it. I suppose it was the inventory control method of its time. So your tractor was probably first owned by some large company.

That old tractor more than likely belonged to the city of Memphis. I know that old 450. It has a dozer blade on it, and combine tires and wheels right? Somewhere around Gates Tennessee?

Come to think of it, that may have come from the Memphis works where IH made the cotton pickers, because that tractor, once upon a time, had no pto, and a straight drawbar on it.

You know the tractor well. I did come from gates and has huge tires. Also it has a blade. We are going to take the blade off and put the right tire on it. Thanks for the info. Libby
