This time of the year most of the rain is gone here in S Calif, and I am starting my mowing and discing jobs. With a lot of rain now, and more on the way, It will be a couple weeks before I can do anything. The problem is, when I finally get started everyone will want their work done first. So here I sit. Stan

Look at the bright side, Chief- think how fast that grass will grow with all the rain!

I know what you mean- I usually plant half my peas in February for an early crop- but garden has never dried out enough to even plant, much less escape seeds rotting in the ground.

Could be worse. I'm waiting for some of the ice to melt off before I take off to drive the 40 miles to the Deere dealer. The clutch went out on my loader tractor yesterday in the middle of an ice storm. Had to stand out in the cold rain and wind taking the loader off so I could get it in the shop and split it. Had to order the parts. They're in,but I just talked to the guy that's supposed to be resurfacing the flywheel and he says it's junk.
So sitting around doing nothing, sounds pretty good right now.

I'm happily sitting.. Well, sorta..

It's cold and windy, but sunny outside.. Got scrap that could be hauled, sheds that could be cleaned up, stuff to move around, tractors to fix, but I'm being lazy..

Spent the last 2 days changing tires, seals, brake shoes and drums on semi trailers.. 9 axles worth of em to be exact.. as well as a lot of odds and ends related repairs. We're not done with tires, have 16 still to mount and put on a trailer, but no tires till tomorrow. Harder work than I have done in a long time, and having done it really makes me want to go do more, but my body says otherwise.. LOL.. Glad we got today off.

I hear you.
Work is slow right now so I have the time. I've got a tractor that I want to put the engine into but I'm doing it outside and it's only 21 degrees out there.
Hard to work up the chutzpa to turn wrenches in those temps if you don't absolutely have to.

My wife tells me the jackrabbits down there are looking real healthy this year. She's at our vacation home in the mountains just south of Palm Desert. Seems like the past couple years the desert has been greening up nicely in the late winter, early spring. Makes a feller nervous come late summer, though, 'cause all that nice green turns tinder dry.

We have 4 to 6 inches of snow/sleet/ice. rrlund is just a few miles south of me, he"s got the same. Last nite temperatures were in the low teens, so all the wet snow is hard as a rock. I don"t even want to think about trying to move it with a tractor mounted plow, or truck mounted plow. I opened up a driveway for a neighbor lady yesterday - did a number on her yard. Tore it up pretty good, as top layer of ground was thawed. Our sheep have layers of ice on their backs. They chose to ride out the storm outside, and they have an inch or so of ice/snow on their coats. Must be their wool is pretty good insulator. Schools through the county have been closed for last two days. They made the closing decision for today last nite.

So here I sit...

Stan, you must be a type A person. For a type A sitting around doing nothing is ten times worse than actually working. I can't even stand still while I'm brushing my teeth. Jim

I guess here I sit is a figure of speach. I'm not sitting in my easy chair watching the ground dry out. I can always find something to do. I do come in now and then for a cup of coffee and to check the computor. Stan

Good to Know Big Fred about the health of Jack Rabbits down your way. May have to buy some Jack Rabbit futures on the open tomorrow. Be very very quiet and don't tell anyone.
