I almost cant wait!

What a day, I started getting equipment ready to go back to work, got the trailers registered, (gotta get them done in Maine). Went back to do chores, and my friends NH 520 manure spreaders end gate wouldent lift, I noticed the cylinder on the gate leaking Hydraulic fluid on tuesday. Well I figured the Case 400 was low on HF but I called the guys son and he told me were to add the fluide, I figgured it but wanted to double check, and the engine oil was below "low" but he dident seem to care, and neither do I. Climbing up the back of that p.o.s is the worst thing I have ever done on a tractor, you need to take 2foot steps, hoses are in the way, juggle around to get on, My 47 Farmall is much easier to get on than the 400, then its got that single hi/lo tranny, and the gear pattern isent labled anywere on the tractor, and theres no tach. I cant wait for the next seven days to pass, and my friend will be back! Never came home from chores until 7:30! Left at 4. At least it wasent cold! lol J

Those hydraulic leaks get expensive when it's $10/gallon! Our cylinder was leaking on our spreaders end gate and we finally got it fixed, but I'm sure it dumped several hundred dollars of fluid in the years it took dad to get it done.

The cylinder was leaking on our loader last year so Dad took it off right away and I rebuilt it myself, including a new rod. Was maybe .005" bigger OD than the original, so it worked out nice being able to clean up the peices it slid through in the lathe. No leaks since, and the oil level has stayed up in both tractors.

THERE MUST NOT BE A FRONT STEP TO GET ON THAT 400. CASE DESIGNED THEM to get on from clutch side front and dismount from rear on clutch side .
muddy boots can complicate life ,, you gotta admit other rainbow of colors models of that era built were just as challenging. , it is nuthin to climb on and off any tractor if you are a youngster .. had to sustitue youngster for the word -tenager -(potty filter )
