Good Day. I am a documentary film director in the process of filming a feature documentary entitled "Harvesting the High Plains." We are primarily on location in Western Kansas but have the ability to travel if necessary. I am looking for period tractors with implements as well as combines dating from 1930 - 1945 in working order. My interest is to film some "pick-up" shots (movie parlance) with the equipment. I suggest contacting EDGE&TA (Early Days Gas Engine & Tractor Assn)or a club local to where you will be filming.There is a link to local clubs on the website below.

You are in the wrong time of year in the USA for harvesting. If you want to go to Australia, it's fall there. I don't know what the exact timing would be for which Australian crops, but you are six months off for the USA.
 
Thank you for the information. In the film industry we need to plan our shooting schedule. Harvest in the prime area of our work actually occurs in late June and early July. However, summer fallow work is starting and we are looking to film all aspects of the process. I wasn't anticipating filming harvest until actual harvest but the business of film requires we start planning now. Also an FYI, my family has been dry land farming for over 90 years and I also dry land farm although as a suitcase farmer since I am in the film industry. Hence the deep interest and passion about this project. I appreciate your informative comments.

Thank you very much for the information. I will check it out. Sadly we will be finished with our production at that time so I do not think we will be able to use this event. That said however, you never know if time works out we will film there.
