I got the tiller running tonight, after replacing the motor and belts. There was about 1/2 cup of water and 2 quarts of lube in the gear box. I drained it and filled with fresh.

It works great.,

Hard to beat an old Troy Built tiller. I used the one I have was my dads till he passed on in 2004. Any how used it yesterday to till up the garden area for the 3 or 4th time this year the thing just doesn't know it is old as in a 1972 model. Love the one finger operation of the thing now if it was a bit easier to turn around at the end it would be even better

Started my landscaping business with a troybilt tiller in the early 80's, probably the most money made for money laid out. Still own one and it pays its keep. Dave

Mine is a 1971. It started on the 3rd pull after sitting all winter & it was only in the 40's when I used it. Planted peas, radish and lettuce. I noticed the radish and lettuce coming up today.

This was my dads, but the motor was shot. He always complained about it smoking and carb not working right. I have had it here for a couple of years and just gotten to it.

The garden is really too wet to plant, I will work it up again next weekend and we will plant then.

This one is on its 2nd engine and 3rd transmission rebuild but then not all that bad since my dad would till 2 or 3 acres a year with it and then some. It had a Tecumseh engine on it when new but now has a 7HP Kolar on it. Ha an add on fuel tank because the fuel pump is bad and I'll not pay $70 for a new one when I can use a gravity system and have it work just fine
