cell phone???

Hey folks,
Didn't want to hijack Roy's cell phone piece. Everyone recommending the Samsung Rugby. Can't find one here but found a couple on American ebay.... Any idea if you can buy them in a store as just an unlocked phone that doesn't have to use a certain service (prepaid?)? And about what they cost?

Dave how about a Sonim phone, they build for JCB and are reputedly indestructible... some even float, and all are waterproof for 30 minutes... Am i right in thinking that most of Europe runs on GSM either 3 G or 4G? Not sure if the Samsung Rugby is GSM or CDMA?

Thanks. Like the idea of the rugby having a face that covers the buttons. I just shove the phone in a pants pocket. Maybe I'm not even looking for the right thing. I'm not real hard on a phone, just carry in a pants pocket. Am hard hearing with tinnitis, and don't see real well up close, maybe should be looking for just a loud phone with big screen/buttons?? Any suggestions? GSM is the system here.

get one that is voice activated and be sure it has blue tooth.

PS go fancy I have a Motorola droid real nice but costly and hard to learn. I like the fact that I can go online anywhere to look up something. Or do my banking like transferring money
 
Hello dave2,
I have a Samsung convoy.
It was designed for paramedics and firefighters.
I guess they are the tuff guys.
Anyway, it has voice control, once you hit the button you are prompted to: SAY A COMMAND!
If you program a number with a name , say joe blow, You say the name and it says CALLING joe blow! Works for me, it also uses the newest High Freq. band. It TALKS everywhere I go.
