I have an IH Cub Lo-boy (same as farmall cub, only lower) that does the same thing. As a heavy equipment tech student, my guess is that the oil although it is a lube, creates a micro-thin layer between the two shafts where they meet, much like the crank bearings in a car. (you know how they are really close to each other?) that would create enough friction to turn the shaft. kinda like a fluid coupler. Hope this helps!!
