Rich- I honestly don't know the recommendation for grease in that upper gear box. My 450 was dry when I took it apart and that added to my cynical attitude about Farmall design issues. More on that in a minute... My recommendation is to give those gears and that new bearing a heavy dose of plain old gun grease. Gear lube will leak away, down the vertical shaft. You are into a complex job and spending a bunch of money already, so go a few more bucks and just do all belts and hoses brand new while you're in there. Put the old belts on a nail in the shed, as "emergency spares", and you'll never, ever, need 'em. If you don't, within 6 months you'll be tearing the thing down again to replace at least one of 'em! In so many words, create your own good luck. The radiator should have a pair of rubber pads between it and the cast iron it mounts onto. The two long studs should have springs on them and the radiator should be able to "flex". Cut up an old radiator hose and you got the rubber pads as a freebie. The fan shroud really "got under my skin", as to the hassle of removing it. I cut away the bottom 1/4 of mine, leaving two sides and the top, then split that down the middle. I now have just two easy to R&R fan shroud pieces. Don't know about your politics and religous beliefs, regds birth control and abortion, but mine involve thinking that the world could be a much, much, better place if a time machine and a killer team were available. Ponder if we could go back in time and "take out" certain people in history... After several years of slow renovation work on my 450, I'm seeing Farmall designers and corp. officials as a good place to start that project! Last time I posted about this idea the replies sounded like we'd need at least a CH-47 Chinook from the old 228th to haul all the killer team volunteers. Rich, good luck and my wish is that you won't need it! Grins, IHank

Earthmaster Project Progress Just a little update on my Earthmaster......it's back from the dead! I pulled the head, and soaked the stuck valves with mystery oil overnight, re-installed the head, and bingo, the compression returned. But alas, my carb foiled me again, it would fire a second then flood out. After numerous dead ends for a replacement carb, I went to work fixing mine.I soldered new floats on the float arm, they came from an old motorcycle carb, replaced the packing on the throttle shaft with o-rings, cut new ga
