As Gary says, you want to apply 6 oz to your whole .4 acre field of field corn. You are safe spraying the lower stalk of the corn, you do not want to get any into the growing point or upper whorls (leaf collars) as the 24D will stunt the growing point or make the corn brittle in the leaf collars.
But there is no problem spraying around the stalk of a corn plant with 24D.
This will kill or stunt all the broadleaf weeds. It will not do anything to any grasses you may have in the field.
Should work great.
It was very very common in years gone by to go in tall coren with a 'highboy' sprayer and drop nozzles (a short hose with the spray nozzle on the end, so the spray tip was down between the corn rows), spray the broadleaf weeds with 24D later in the season. Doesn't hurt the corn if you keep the spray off the top part of the plant.
