Years past, I rebuilt every component of a vehicle that was feasible and possible. Can't even estimate how many components I have rebuilt and seldom had a problem. While in the work force, I installed MANY remanufactured brake components, starters, alternators and even carburetors, and was surprised at what I found wrong with them. Take it off and exchange it and hope you get a good one!!
My boss eventually told customer that he would use remanufactured parts, if they insisted, but would charge labor for second or more exchanges.
Things may be different today but I guess I am old fashioned and don't trust rebuilders, especially when dealing with brakes.
Today, it is cheaper, in most cases, to buy a rebuilt MC because the rebuild kit cost nearly as much--if you can find one.
If you still have the original, Is there any possibility you could rebuild it?
