We have a 720 that had this problem. We put a taper lock on it and have not had any problems. Its been on for 10 years. We think that the flyweels tend to loosen when using a pto driven implement and they knock when you turn to short. But again put the taper lock on there and I think we had to drive the flywheel on with a sledge hammer as instucted. Good luck.

: I have a 720 diesel that has play on the flywheel. I have heard plenty of horror storries of breaking cranks and launching flywheels. Is there any possible in expensive remedy for this problem, or is the only answer a new flywheel for $800?
