Well I couldnt find out its value in time so we went ahead and bought one of these (diesel) with a new trailer. Just making sure its a good deal since we have 5 days to change our mind after its recieved. Whats the ruff value of this machine. Its in near perfect condition, everything runs, original paint and its in good looking condition. Year is 2002. About 2k hours total run time. We payed $4k for trailer (16'x 6' with ramps) and skid steer. From most auction it apears $10k is average?

Thanks,
John

And are you sending the check to Nigeria?

I smell a scam -> you may never see your money or the equipment.

Please let us know if that is the case.

Also, the e-bay scam deal is worth less that the value of what I scrape off my boots before coming in for dinner.

Nope not nigeria lol. Hes in Pittsburgh pa. Same state as me. I thought the entire point of having a 3rd party handle the funds was just that. To protect you and prove you payed. Ebay knows we payed- it wnet through them. So if it is a scam I better get my money back. Oh ya- I got a lawyer too so hes not getting off that easy. If Id have to take it up with ebay so be it.third party image

Did you call the guy up on the phone? There is a skilled group of scam artists that steal ebay accounts and sell stuff cheap.

This may be on the up and up, but as my daddy used to say, "if it sounds too good to be true...."

Let's hope you got a deal and it works out super well for you.

No I didnt. However we sent the money to the real imotors account on ebay that has 97% positive feedback and tons of sales. He owns a car dealership. So if it is a scammer, he shouldnt have gotten the $ the real guys hould have. In which case hed prob think where the heck did this $4k come from? Unlss as you said the stole the entire account inwhich case Id think ebay would have to accept responsablity, I mean it was there system that was hacked.....

Least I hope. Keeping my fingers crossed now! Thanks for the good advice it really helped.

I haven't been scammed (yet - knock wood), but the understanding is that they either start a new account and list all sorts of things, "sell" them and never ship anything. Then scamper off like a cockroach for a twinkie crumb.

Or

The sophisticated ones "steal" a real account, doctor the pages to have a different pay account. List and sell things they don't own. Sometimes they resurrect an old sale.

You should call the real imotors and determine that it is a real deal. Being from Missouri, I would want to understand why a place that sells vehicles isn't selling that one. I'm probably just too skeptical ...

I did that yesterday after that last post you did. Well imotors told me it was a scam. WORSE still they been hacked before theres a warnign on there site. I told them they better inform ebay they have been hacked but they never responded. LOL- now someone else will get the same crap! uh. Well I used a agent so the scum bag didnt get a dime. I dont know how someone smart enough to hack ebay accounts is so stupid. The agent wouldnt release money TILL 5 days after delivery and our approval. Thats the point of the third party. WE informed ebay. I went as far as to hunt the sucker down, hes on a scam list. Hes scammed in Canada, Germany, USA and other countries. NEVER EVER BUY from sell2111@aol.com hes a fraud! He sells backhoes, tractors and other farm machines and steel legit accoutns.

No point in going by powerseller ID's anymore cause its prob not the real guy anyways! Thats just sickening. Im looking at 4 diff loaders now and to be truthfull dont think Ill bid on any of them for fear of this crap again. Just cant trust people. Ill tell ya this much, Id like to have 5 minutes with that moron. WEll even 2 would be enough 5 might be too much (I might not stop).

Now Im out $180 wiring EBAY agent the money. And now the agent has $4k and no skidsteer to buy. Been a great week. Oh and the guy that came to iunstall my dish yesterday (the profesional they say) is a idiot!

Maybe next week will be better. ITs only Tuesday and I give up already on this one. Was gonna chang emy backhoe brakes, but I dunno I might jinx it LOL.third party image

Thanks for all the help everyone and especially you john_bud. Lets this be a warning to others. Never trust ebay OR powerseller ID you need more. Use a agent like we did so they DONT get money till you get goods as promised.

Bad news, he hacked the ebay and paypal accounts. Used fake driver license the whole nine yards. Its all gone. $4k right out the window. This is what I get trying to keep my dads landscaping buis. going after he passed away 4 months ago. Seems like Im down and cant get back up! Ill never buy on ebay again if it isnt local I dont need it that bad. Cant afford liability insurance for the co. now till spring and will have to take up another job to replace the 4k to get the buis. going. So there goes that since without insurance I cant do that kinda work. I feel sick. But Im not gonna let go of my dad and I's dream. At this point I cant.third party image

So the agent was a scammer, too? I was under the assumption that money was being held in escrow, but then you said it was gone.. I would be in contact with law enforcement and the Attorney General, ASAP..

You got it. The "agent" was he, acting as ebay agent. And worse yet, to get the money he needed a "VALID" photo ID. Which he didnt have it was fake. But they didnt run the numbers on it. So shouldnt that be their fault also? Heck we needed a valid ID to send it(any transaction over $1000). He used a fake driver license to get the cash. Isnt that negligence?

John-Paul T,

I am truely sorry that you were scam'ed and ripped off. E-bay is a fertile ground for theft and there are some real scum bags preying on good people like you.

Don't let this incident destroy you- be strong and keep plugging away. Is there any possibility of the e-bay or paypal "protection" getting your money back?

Good Luck!

If you bought it off Ebay you should have had the "Buisness Equipment Purchase Protection", assuming your winning bid was greater than $1K and it met some other conditions. You can check out the conditions at the following EBay link:

Thanks Ill look into that. I thought it should be covered but ebay live chat help was useless. THey basically said so sorry you got scammed next time be more carefull! (last buisness I ever give ebay) Well golly gee, they hacked you not me! Besides the seller rep was good, the fact was unknown it was a stolen account. Worse yet it turns out the real account owner new they were hacked and did NOTHING at all to stop it. They have just sat on there hands and let it go. Same with ebay.
Ill keep you guys updated on this. Im not giving up on the land scaping co. but its a huge setback. Thanks for all the support, I really appreciate it.

Something is very fishy about the deal you got.The skid loader should be worth between 9-11K depending on how it is optioned, the trailer $12-1500. The skid loader in salvage condition is worth $2500+. You might want to run the serial numbers through a Deere dealer and/or the police,to see if it is stolen,or financed with a repo order on it,and the previous owner dumped it to get some quick cash.

See that is what I was wondering. THank you. My first thought was "is it stolen or what?" But he has trailer title, and is getting bill of sale and stuff done up by a lawyer, the title notarised aswell. He wouldnt do that if it was stolen right? I mean wouldnt it throw up red flags etc. so to speak? Just seemed to good to be true, but I wasnt really certain of the value. New to these big machines you see. So now that you assured me of its value..... Im wondering myself. The only reason I went through with it was because he seems to have nothing to hide. Its sitting at DHC trucking waiting to be delivered on the trailer.third party image

Good thing is he said we have 5 days to test drive and if not happy we can cancel on it. I will run the seriel numbers when I get it. Would a repo carry over since it was ebay and is done through them and lawyer? Ebay has $20,000 fraud protection so that should cover me if in that 5 days it turns up fishy right?

Thanks again for the very helpfull post!third party image

P.S. would you go through with this sale?

That's a fairly big skid steer. First of all what capacity are the axles on the trailer? A heavy duty new trailer with 6 or 7000 lb. axles is in the $4000 range alone. With 3500 lb. axles $1000 to $1500 cheaper. As for the machine, if it only has 2000 hours, something doesn't seem right. I'm not saying it's a scam but does it need extensive repairs? like a new engine or complete hydraulics? That machine in good shape is worth upwards of $15,000 and probably more. A new one I'm guessing is around $50,000 or more. Usually any used skid steer that is in good operating condition will go down to a certain price and stay there. If it's only 5 years old with a couple thousand hours at least $10,000. If this is a legit deal, grab it! even if it needs an engine. Hope this helps. Dave
