I just wanted to give a quick update on my project. Received the rebuild kit by UPS on Thursday that I ordered from this site and test fit one of the sleeves....perfect fit. Taking the crank to be ground first of the week, will get the bearings afterward. I also had a strange idea come to me. Since I am going to use Fram oil filters after the rebuild, What if I painted the filter canister Fram orange and put on vintage decals from the 50's that I found on ebay? Anyone done this before? I like to be different and this sounds like a cool detail. Any opinions are welcome. Patrick

Yes, a man in Blacksburg, Virginia did that before.

Well, thats gonna make 2 of us then. I wanted a vintage Wix filter decal, but hit a dead end on that. Could have kept the canister red on that. Oh well, its MY tractor..... ...

If you don't want original, get an adapter for a spin on filter, then you can use any color filter you want, and consider it an upgrade. I prefer that over painting an original IH part the wrong color. But, as has been said many times before, "It's your tractor".

Lets not get to wild Patrick. Thats the first step down the road of decadence. LOL

I like to add my little things too but I dont know about that oil filter cover change. I think I would have to stick with red and do someting else to add "my touch". What about painting it red and then adding the fram decals? Kind of a compromise?

On the other hand its your tractor so you should do what you want.
