I find on any brand of tractor that I have the switch goes bad. They don't stay open, but rather over time, the spade prong where the power wire goes on gets rusty and breaks off. I think when they get old there gets a little resistance on the connection and then they get hot which makes them rust faster. I can show you 2 IH switches like you are talking about, a JD, and an A-C one. Same problem with all three. The old ones with screw type terminals can be tightened and don't give any trouble.

If you really need the lights, run a jumper (with a 20 amp fuse in it) from the non-ground side of the battery or the bat side of the starter solenoid, to the back of one of the lights. Bingo. JimN

Hi Dave, check the grounds. Sometimes there will only be one ground in the circuit. Had an 81 Olds once and when you tuned on right directional signal, right high beam would flash with signal lights. Only one ground point for all lights on right front and it was corroded.

Good Luck

Fuse, light switch and lights.

I've seen some of 'em with that fuse wired to the ignition switch tho.

Who knows this far down the road? Could have been re-wired a dozen times by now. :>)
