I am a CASE collector, but like all colors. Could someone please explain what a Regular is versus the F12, 14, 20, 30? Is the Regular older? What sizes did it come in, and years made? If you don't mind another question, what years were the F series made?

Thanks, Glenn F.

Welcome to the Red side of the Case-IH Family.
Basically, the Regular was an early model of the F-20. Originally, it was call the "Farmall" but when the F-30 was introduced, it became the "Regular" Farmall. Shortly thereafter, the Regular tractor became the F-20. As noted, many of the Regular and F-20 parts are interchangeable. They have about the same power. The F-12 was a smaller tractor that was upgraded to be called the F-14. The C replaced the F-14; the H replaced the F-20; and the M replaced the F-30, more-or less!

The C was not built until 1948. At the end of F series production it was A,B,H,M no C.

I dont know that you could include the farmall as one of the F series, but some were being built from leftover parts into the early 40s.

Weren't the Regulars also fairly wide and fixed treaded beasties with open steering gears?

Glenn,

Well I'm an amateur so be forewarned, but near as I can tell the Regular was the first row-crop tractor manufactured by IHC. It was first known as the Farmall and first built in 1924 but soon was renamed to the Regular. The difference between the F-series is a lot of times determined by the number of plow bottoms the tractor can pull. A Regular is expected to pull a 2 bottom, while an F-12 only 1. An F-14 is almost identical to the F-12 except that it can run at 1650 RPMS, while the F-12 runs at 1400 RPM...so the F-14 is said to be able to pull 2 bottoms. An F-20 is bigger than the the F-12/14 in pretty much everyway and is said to be the predecessor of the H. The F-30 is the horse of the F-series and is the predecessor of the M. Getting back to the Regular, it was made from 1924-1932 I believe. And I think that the earliest that any of the F-series started was in 1929 going through 1939, which then saw the introduction of the Letter series.

I may be wrong about some of this and I hope others will chime in where it should be fixed and with more info...

Josh

Josh I don't think the F 20 was replacement of H it was more in line with a M The F 30 used that big engine.
