Need help, my ring gear and pinion turn but the tractor won't move..I tore it down thinking the coconut was bad. But when I got into the differetial they are no obvious signs of damage.
Anyt help or advice would be greatly appreciated

I think the opinion about tractors is more disturbing than the covered over cuss word.

Do you have the differential assembly apart to inspect the pinion and side gears? If all that is OK, about the only thing left is one of the wheels has spun on the axle.

Hi, If the pinions turn the only thing left is the bull gears and axles. At 10,000 hrs my 856 pinions and bull gears were wore and pitted enough so it was noisy on the road, I caught it in time, all it took was swap the pinions to the other side, reverse the bull gears and new bearings. Labor and all was less than 500 bucks. It now has 16,000 hrs and still going strong. I recommend take it apart and decide what you need, good used parts are available, I think they are one of the best tractors made and well worth keeping up. Good Luck, Chuck

GET RID OF THE TRACTOR, it'll be nothing but a f****** money pit from now on. It needs bearings, the works to fix it right... Buy an M or 656 and get use to having something decent.....
