We have removed and taken the radiator in for cleaning and inspection. When we drained it is was pretty rusty brown. Do we/should we try to flush the engine somehow or is the not really necessary? Thanks in advance for the help!

i know what your saying. I was just saying best to flush the engine with something first. I've used the vinegar myself. Dad uses it for his coffe maker every month, the faucets and so on since we have very hard (iron) water. Vinegar works good especially when hot!!

Since you took the rad out and can"t flush it with engine running, why not go a little further now.Pull the water jacket cover off ,then you can clean the mess up.Make or buy a gasket for it likely rotten anyways.

If it where my tractor I would but, since you have already taken the rad. off doing so might be harder to do. If you still had it on I would have filled the system with vinagar and then run it till good and warm, let cool the drain and flush with a garden hose. But with the radiator off I don't know how you could do that till after you got the radiator back on it

i would be worried about clogging the newly rebuilt radiator with chunks from the engine. I would at LEAST flush the engine with a garden hose before putting the radiator back on.

Thats why I said what I did. A cored radaitor and then flushing it can clog it but if it hadn't been done it work have worked well
