dummy here would like to find out what all those twisty things do, that are on the out side of the pump. Would like to tear into it but don't have a clue. Anyone have a service manual, advice or maybe a warning. 1@2 cylinders arn't recieving very much pressure, this is at the pump by breaking the fitting loose at the pump. screens in there?? 1&2 cylinders appear to be across from one another on the pump

Randal: I agree with the vet, not only is injection pump repair for the experts, it takes a lot of expensive equipment. Foregoing these two could cost you big bucks.

Hugh and the vet, thanks for the warning, now I"m going to have to walk around on my lower lip for a few days, been an Industial Electrican for 44 years, can fix any thing from a broken heart to the crack of dawn, well maybe not that broken heart, but sure would like to take a peek inside of that pump, as far as a high pressure test stand, you can make a killer one out of a port-a-power,adjustable pressure relief, and a high pressure gauge.

If ya are not experance in injection pump work then it is wise to keep your pinkies out as a twist here and a twist there can cause some of the inside pices of the engine to be on the outside in short order . As for the adjuesment on the outside of the pump ya have high and low idel and the load screw and that one best leave alone along with the high idel . And you can not tell what the pressure is just by cracking a line or two . If the engine has a miss it could be a bad injector and here again with out the proper test equipment ya ain't going to DIY it . Even with the book ya still have to have one of them test stands to set and check .

tractor vet, Engine isn't missing, its dead on two cylinders, no fuel coming out of the pump???? That was my my question as to screens in the pump, have been reading the forums, and lo and behold an old gear head you are, how did I ever guess that, so what kind of engines did or do you run, I'm a big block chevy man myself, have 9 at present plus 3 or 4 mouse motors. Back to the 656 heeding your advice I'm taking the pump to our local guru, Carl Davis for a look see, also I read something interesting about octane in another article you replied too, heres one for you I've added an MSD AL6 to a couple of gas tractors for friends and a marine engine results were out standing, ever think about a multi spark discharge system [MSD]to get a fast burn to off set this crap fuel we have now?
