Buddy has a 460 U Gas . The throtle will not stay in position . Is there a friction plate up under the dash ? There is a half moon type plate down close to the bottom of the throtle shaft that is pinned on one side but just flopin back and forth , not hooked to anything on the other side . Looks like a spring go`s on it . There`s nothing said about it in the manuals .

I believe the setup onthe 460 is similar to that on my 340U. You apparently are missing a spring (#12) that connects the crescent to a fixed bracket bolted as I recall onto the hydraulic valves manifold. There is a friction disc (#3)under the throttle handle that counteracts the spring and sometimes has to be replaced.

Thanks Paul , After I saw your post I remembered the case-IH site . I printed it out with the parts list and I`ll give it to him . That`s the best way to do it .
