Got my 826 today. Sounds great, seems pretty strong. But...

After warning up there is steam coming out of the blowby pipe. I think it is steam because it isn"t oily like blowby. And it real hot like steam. is that a good sign of something?

it didn"t use any oil or water. and new oil after 2-5 hours is kinda milky but not real milky. Just not clear then darker then black.

Is it time to check the cylinder sleaves?

I would like to run it 10 hours or so to get a better read on the oil.

I checked the archives awhile back about the 826 because a local auction had one. Somewhere, someone stated that the sleaves seals will dry one and start to leak at about 5000 hr. intervals. Some people will add a lubricant to the coolant, that acts like a conditioner to prevent this problem. Unfortunately for you, it will most like require a complete disassembly to repair this problem.

Will check the oil and change it. Just can't really tell after one hour. don't think it's been real hot for years.

Will have to go the only water and bars leak route. if so. then monitor real close. for 3500 will have to chance it.

kinda painful, but it is being used to push over saplings and pull a bushog. got a big cage and belly pan.

Look for metal particles in the oil when you drain the oil. Use a clean container. If you drop the oil pan you may see where the leak is. Hal
That antifreeze oil mixture wil wipe out your bearings.

If the oil is MILKY then son you have BIG problems and before ya wipe out the crank if it is not already wiped ya had best be getting into the engine to see why your oil is getting milky , antifreeze and oil do not get along with bearings and bad bearings do not get along with cranks and cams .

As mentioned, it could be normal. Make sure you also monitor radiator level when cold. the engine isn't going to creat coolant. JimN

Leave it sit overnight, then crack the oil pan drain plug loose and see what comes out. If there's antifreeze in the oil, it'll have settled to the bottom and you'll see it plain as day. Don't run it anymore if you suspect a problem. Would have to be a pretty serious leak to cause a noticable amount of steam.
