In using Bob melvins diagram to wire up My M to 12 volt system with the single alternator wire, I notice their is no wiring showing the foot starterand how it is wired. Just from the battery to the starter and a 10 guage wire from the ammeter to the starter also. Am I missing something here? I need to know the correct way to wire in the foot starter. Where do both of the leads on the foot starter go to and how does that 10 ga. wire from the amp fit into this. Thanks for any info

Carelesness also. Few days ago I turned on the gas and started one of mine while standing on the ground in front of the platform. Well this particular time I forgot to put it in neutral first. It started in 1st gear and I was lucky I could shove the shift to neutral before it went 4". Scared the kahoots out of me. Bet that's the last time that happens. Once they get going without a driver they don't stop for nobody.

Nawlins: You ain't alone. I am ashamed to say I did that once too, with a 140. Luckily, it missed me as I was standing outside the rear wheel. I got it knocked into neutral just in time to keep it from hitting the house. I learned my lesson. mike

On that diagram the starter switch (foot switch) sits atop the starter and contacts the starter power terminal directly.

The ungrounded battery cable connects to the single starter switch terminal. And the 10 gage ammeter wire goes to the same terminal as the ungrounded battery cable.

The Big wire goes from the battery to the starter button. Then another big wire goes to the starter. The 10 gauge wire goes the post on the starter button for the big wire coming from the battery to the amp meter. ALL accescory power goes through the amp meter. On the other side of the ampmeter is the 10 gauge wire to go to the alternator, the wire that goes to the light switch, and if you have battery ignition the wire that goes to your ignition switch. Be careful you don't hurt yourself. ALWAYS HYAVE THE TRACTOR IN NEUTRAL WHEN DOING WIRING!!! Why? Well if you wire it wrong and accidentally hit the starter button you can get your butt run over. And that fact that your asking the question means your in the higher percentile probability of doing it wrong. NO OFFENSE intended but inexperience leads to mistakes; mistakes lead to injuries.
