Are going to try this hayen thing again . Still lots of dew on the grass so let the sun work on the top for and hour and try and gather up what i can after the wind wed.I think i will take one of my friends with me today and try and serve some EVICTION NOTICES as the land owner is gone on vacation and i realy don't think he will miss a few ground hogs. They have one SUPER hole where there are FIVE yes FIVE groundhogs liven in and area that ya can back a oneton truck into and darn near drive a tractor on the bed with out ramps we have been using it to load 4 bales on the truck with the bale spear on the 706 , also there are some holes that if ya happen to miss them the ft. axel will will rub the ground as the tire and wheel are all the way in on the 706 as we only have 7.50 x16on it the 1066 with the 1100 on the ft. will bounce thru them .

Hurdy, Woodchucks are called ground hogs.
Look up Woodchucks on the internet.

I had a lot of ground hogs behind my property. I popped a few of them, but it was easier to catch them in my "have a heart" trap. I must of
carried 20 or more away. I took a lot of them in on a military post where I worked. Someone said
they will come back like a homing pigeon. I said they have about 15 miles to walk. I gave several to some of the civilian black guards. They said they would eat them. I know they didn't come back. Hal

Young ones about half grown are good to eat. The older ones are quite greasey.

Yuck, I'd never eat one of them greasey or not. We had a woodchuck in our backyard. My Dad killed it. He had to shoot it many times and wack it with the gun, and drop a heavy JD hitch on it to kill it.

My late father-in-law cooked one when his wife was working at an ammo assembly plant during WW2.
My mom worked there too. My wife said she made biscuits and said that ground hog was good. She was probably all of 12 then. Hal

We have a shortage of ground hogs here compared to 20 years ago. I guess since the coyote's have been here they are eating lots of them. One good thing the hay fields aren't all dug up like they used to be either.

It's dangerous to have them in fields where horses
run. Very easy for them to break a leg. They brought Coyotes to APG 20 years ago and they probably cut the groundhog population. They had beavers too and they cut down every tree they could get their teeth on. They would be something to deal with with those teeth. They built dams overnight and cause road flooding. The crews would unblock the dam and they would rebuild it again the next night. Hal
