Hoosierbuddy,

Just curious, what do you do with your Allisons? A guy here at our airport has a Packard Merlin in his toy collection. My plane is a 1953 180.

Nearly 49 years of marriage is kinda hard to keep track of, but I'll try.

1. Probably around 60, although many weren't antique at the time.
2. I have 19 right now, so maybe 30 tractors total.
3. Never a boat.
4. Only one four wheel drive...a first year '66 Bronco.
5. Two...a '47 and a '49 Chevy.
6. Four. '41 Aeronca, '48 Piper Vagabond, '51 Cessna 170-A, '43 Cessna UC-78 (Bamboo Bomber)
7. No motorcycle.

George,

I like your taste in airplanes. Lots of Aeronca time but never owned one. I used to have a 1949 170A and currently have a 1953 180. Do you still have your 170? I always wanted a Bamboo Bomber but never really got serious about one. When I bought my 170 I was actually looking for a 140 and when I bought my 180 I was actually looking for another 170, so if the trend holds, if I ever buy another plane I will probably be looking for another 180 and buy a 195. I love round engines as long as somebody else has to feed them. Antique planes are fun but antique tractors and cars are much less expensive, if any hobby can be called inexpensive.

No, I never went. I did fly it to the first fly-in at Oshkosh, WI in 1970. We've had it since 1965...still have it, but it is in storage awaiting another complete rebuild.

Not married yet, but it has already been decided that after expenses I can do what I want with my $$ and she can do what she wants with her $$.
So far:

1. 1951 IH L-120, 1951 Ford F-6
2. Farmall A, H, SMTA, McCormick W-9, SC Case
And my daily driver is a 95 Tbird with a V-8 so that's fun too!

I fixed that @#$% Farmall 460 many more times then i ever fixed any John Deere.

In the 13 years that i had the 460 i had to replace the clutch 4 times!! and that @#$% TA 1 time.
IH didnt know much when they put a 30hp super H clutch in 50hp 460.

My 4020 is on my farm for 26 years. I replaced the clutch 1 time.
My 620 is on my farm for 11 years and the 520 for 7 years I never had to replace the clutch in them.

My old Mustang GT I had before home ownership replaced it with a truck. A rip snortin V-8 is a great thing to have. There isnt much that will grap your attention more than being sideways at 70MPR in the rain simply by hitting 3rd gear HARD!
My new Tundra is strong, but not like that.
