We have a '53 Super M that we are trying to install a new clutch sleeve and disc in. I do not have a shop manual right now so I don't know the exact procedure for doing this. We are having difficulties getting the sleeve assembly, pinion and pressure plate/disc to clear the yoke that the pinion bolts up to. I could use any suggestions here. Thanks.

I replaced the clutch and pressure plate on my Super BM this past week. Suggest you check these;
1) is the clutch plate around the correct way. The circular dust cover should face forward.
2) have you tightened down the fingers on the clutch pressure plate. You do this by inserting three of the holding bolts into the rear of the pressure plate. Tighten them up (as you did when you removed the pressure plate) and once the pressure plate is bolted in place then remove them allowing the fingers to open.Those three bolts then become complete the holding of the pressure plate in place.
3) Lastly try to insert the clutch plate, pressure plate all on the shaft and then ensure the shaft is located correctly.We found doing it this way we had no problems with setting it up.
We had a little juggling match with this lot, but we got the whole lot back in place and it works. There is an excellent contribution on this website I printed of on changing and M clutch and we followed it the letter. But sorry I cannot find it this evening.
