Where are the timing marks on a farmall C that show when the number one piston is at top dead center.

Remove the round inspection plate on the bottom of the torque tube bell housing. Using a flashlight, and if you are lucky, the timing mark will appear on the bottom of the flywheel when #1 is TDC on compression stroke. However, the mark can be extremely hard to find. If and when you find it, smear a little bright-colored paint on it to make it easier to find the next time.

Also remember that the timing mark will show when the engine is 180 degrees off, also. To be sure it is on number one cylinder, check the rotor in the distributor, (if the tractor was running previously) or take out the spark plug and feel for compression while you crank, so you will know it is TDC for compression, and not for exhaust.
