Can I switch a +ground starter for -ground?

I have two farmall 450's, one with a positive ground and the other with a negative ground. The starter on the negative ground one is worn out but I'd like to use it this weekend. I don't have a hand crank, so I don' know if I can start it by hand (I've never tried doing such). My neg. ground farmall has a good starter, so I didn't know if I could pull it and put it in the pos. ground tractor. If so, do I need to do anything special?

Thanks,
Matthew

Yep, starters don't care how they are grounded or if they are getting 6 or 12 volts. Go ahead and switch. Even easier yet, if you have someone to help you, pull start the 450 that has the dead starter with the 450 that has the good starter.

Matthew,
Switch them..... ...your starter doesn't care if it's + or - ground !
