Bought what looks like the front cultivator for my BN but with some added parts. The guy said it was a bean puller but didn't know how to use it. Neather do I. Excuse my ignorance but we are vegetable farmers here in West Michigan. Mostly lettuce, celery, tomatoes, and some Blueberries. Lots of little Farmalls in use in this area, and lot's of those wierd looking Allis Chalmers G's. Dave.

I don't really know much to help you, but my 1940 IH General catalog shows "Bean Harvesting Attachments" for cultivators 203A & 215H. Its called model No. 7 bean harvesting attachment. These fit F-12&14,Regular F-20&30. I would guess you have a later version of this. No good pictures of it in the book. Hope this helps a little.

Dave - A bean puller is the first step is harvesting dry beans. It has a fixed blade that runs just beneath the soil surface to cut off the dried bean stalk. The cut off plants are then windrowed (we usually did 4 rows into 1), then run thru a combine to separate the beans.

Spent MANY hours as a kid on a Super M fitted with a 2 row bean puller. Not bad work when everything is set right!
